On this tour you have more time to discover the sights of the Mekong Delta and enjoy the life on the river. You visit the famous floating market of Cai Rang . On several land excursions you have the chance to experience local handicraft production, colorful brick kilns, opulent orchards and peaceful villages. Take an excursion with a small rowing Sampan or a short bike trip to explore the small side canals of the mighty Mekong river.

This Mekong Delta river cruise is available with the wooden cruise vessels Mekong Eyes (14 cabins).

Our 3-day tours leave from Can Tho to Cai Be and back (on odd dates, e. g. Sept 1, 3, 5, 7 etc.) or from Cai Be to Can Tho and back (on even dates, e. g. Sept. 2, 4, 6, 8 etc.). If you are staying in Saigon, we will pick you up at your hotel (district 1 and parts of district 3) and take you back there after the end of the Mekong Delta cruise tour. The drive to / from Cai Be takes about 2 hours, to / from Can Tho approx. 4 hours. Daily departures. There are no set departures for the Gecko Eyes.

The itinerary
Day 1: Panorama River Cruise.
In the morning we pick you up at your hotel in Saigon and take you to Can Tho or Cai Be. You board your wooden river cruise vessel around noon. After a refreshing welcome drink we show you our on-board facilities and your cosy cabin. As lunch is served, the boat starts cruising. Sit back and watch the fantastic scenery and the daily life of the Mekong people.

In the afternoon you can disembark for a guided leisurely stroll through a village and the surrounding fruit orchards or rice fields. Meet the friendly locals and taste the local produce and fruits.

Get back on board and enjoy a drink at the bar or relax on deck as the sun sets over the magnificent water landscape of the Mekong river. The cruise boat will anchor for the night. The day ends with a delicious on-board dinner. You stay overnight on board your floating hotel in the Mekong Delta.

Meals: L, D

Day 2: Life on the water and floating markets.
Wake up well rested to the sound of the river and get ready for another exciting day of sightseeing in the Mekong Delta. At 6.30h the cruise vessel sets off for a sunrise cruise. After breakfast, we will board a sampan boat to Cai Rang floating market, the region’s busiest and most lively market. Marvel at the sheer abundance of exotic fruits and vegetables. We will pull up to the boats for talking and bargaining with the merchants. We will also visit some of the local candy and cake making factories or boat through the green water landscape to see local houses, verdant orchards and ship-building yards.

Later in the morning your can boat through the green water landscape on a little rowing sampan to see local houses, verdant orchards and ship-building yards. Alternatively you can discover the nearby town by foot or explore the small side canals of the Mekong river on a bicycle.

The cruise boat then resumes its journey as lunch is served. In the afternoon there will be another side trip to one of the exotic villages along the way.

  • Everything about the trip was fantastic

    Johnson - Jan 22, 2017

Spent 3 days on this beautiful boat. Everything about the trip was fantastic: the food, the staff, accommodation, activities - everything! Jasmine and Lee were fantastic hosts, knowledgeable and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. This trip was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and Jasmine and Lee arranged for a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers in our room and complimentary wine with our evening meal. I can't recommend Johnny Tours highly enough. The highlight of our trip to Vietnam. Thank you!

Highly Recommended Did not know what to expect when we booked a two night cruise but glad we did. Very relaxing after Mui Ne, great scenery, fantastic service by the crew and guides. Can not fault the food and drinks on board. If you want to see the Mekong I would highly recommend it and will be coming back for a longer cruise for sure.

  • Prefect...Awesome....Fantastic

    Spencer - Jul 30, 2017

Prefect...Awesome....Fantastic We spent 3 days 2 nights on Mekong Eyes 2 and it was the prefect way to Cruz the Mekong. 3 Adults & 1 4 year old and we all loved it. The food was amazing and the crew were awesome. Everything was done so well from the walk through the village, to the floating markets & the bike ride was great. We even visited a small family farm and had afternoon tea there. Relaxing on the boat watching the world pass by was a great way to chill out with a Cocktail in hand. Get up early and watch the sun rise, well worth it. Thanks Johnny and Mekong Eyes for a fantastic time. Well worth doing. 10 out of 10.

  • organization did a great job.

    Jeannette - Nov 02, 2017

We were picked up by Mekong Eyes in Ho Chi Minh City the car brought us to Can Tho harbour where the boat from teakwood was waiting for us. The crew was well organized and very friendly, the two guides spoke very well English, the food excellent and the land tours were Nice. They arranged a Nice Christmas party for us on Christmas Eve. Three word:it was great. Last day we have been brought to Rach Gia where we took the boat to Phu Quoc. Inside travel arranged everything. Both organization did a great job.

  • Fantastic Trip!

  • Interesting

    Keifco - Jan 13, 2018

This adventure was actually better than we had expected! The staff were welcoming, fun, and competent. The boat itself is beautiful. The cabins are a nice size, well appointed, and with a bathroom that would not be out of place in a small luxury hotel. The food was simple, but tasty, and the prices were not exorbitant. The side trips were fun and informative, and we actually got to visit real people in real villages. The floating market experience was a highlight, although the onshore market was far more interesting.

phan thiet ta cu mountain tour | 49 meters buddha

Ta cu mountain is one of the highest mountains in Binh Thuan Province - 649 meters From the top of the mountain, there is a spectacular view of the dragon fruit farms and rice paddies below. In the 1870s and 1880s, a Buddhist month named Tran Huu Duc led a group of Buddhist faithful in the construction of the Linh Son Truong Tho Pagoda. After his death in 1887, a group of his followers built the lower Long Doan Pagoda. Then in 1958, a man named Truong Dinh Tri began construction of the 49 meter-long, seven meter-high reclining Buddha, as well as three additional smaller Buddha statues. There is a cave near the statues which has been named the Forefathers Cave. At the bottom of the cave is a small stream, which disappears into the cave floor. It is inside this cave that Tran Huu Duc spent much of his life time in meditation.
